Improving water security for the poor
Reducing inequalities in water security
Inequalities in water security are often difficult to identify. They have structural and historical roots that formally or informally normalise them at different scales – from the household, to the community, town, river basin or the region.
Our research examines the drivers of these inequalities, including gender-related ones, across multiple scales. We aim to generate robust evidence to support the development of tools, practices and policies for inclusive water security outcomes.
Working in collaboration with respected advocates for change, including FCDO and UNICEF, allows us to inform and influence decision making from the regional, to the national and the global scale. The focus of the Sustainable Development Goals on equity, and the key commitments of many of our partners to support this target, provides an opportunity now that is greater than ever.
