Join us on 22 January for an informal conversation around water security and climate change in Ethiopia, and representations of climate change and development. We will question how our communications are shaping – helpfully or unhelpfully – global narratives, and how we can give more of a voice to those who are impacted most.
The evening’s conversation will be accompanied by a photography exhibition showcasing research around water insecurity, climate change and poverty in Ethiopia. The research was led by Dr Catherine Grasham, a postdoc in the DfID-funded REACH programme. The photographer was Alice Chautard, who is the REACH programme communications manager and uses images to communicate the impacts of climate change. Catherine and Alice will share their reflections around the power and problems of using the tools they know well – research and photography – to communicate and shape narratives. Dr Sarah de Wit postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society will also share some insights, and we will then open the floor for discussion on the topic.
