A political scientist by training, Alan has more than 25 years of leading research, policy advice, consulting and program development on water and development issues across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He is a specialist in multi-level water management issues from transboundary, through watershed to community-level water management and water supply and sanitation. Alan is currently leading IWMI’s international Sustainable Growth Program from Addis Ababa, from where he oversees a team of more than 30 professionals across three research groups working on Governance and Gender, Water Futures and Transforming Economies.
