REACH Themes
REACH’s work aligns around four key themes, which have been developed in collaboration with our partners, and based on our research to date. They have been chosen to support the delivery of our research as well as the tools and knowledge relevant to the design of policies and practices to improve water security for the poor.

Building capacity for climate resilience
Preparing for the threat from climate change through advancing understanding of regional climate and climate change, and through building capacity to integrate climate in water policy and practice.
Reducing inequalities in water security
Addressing the inequalities across scales from within the household to community, town, city, basin and region, that define current and emerging water security experiences.
Improving water quality management
Designing and demonstrating new approaches that can be adapted at scale in service delivery models for drinking water, and the management and conservation of surface water and groundwater.
Strengthening institutions for water security
Supporting law, policy and regulation to design, monitor and fund new institutional models for the delivery of universal, safe and affordable water and to ensure water resources are protected, managed and allocated effectively and sustainably.
